Organize Your Receipts

I keep this Receipt Organizer in my purse. I fold the receipts so I can easily see the name of the store. If it’s a receipt that I won’t need to use to return anything, like fuel or restaurant, then I add it to the back of the bag. If it’s a receipt for clothing or something I might need to return later, I add it to the front. That way I don't have to search through the whole pile to find what I need. If you are like me and you only pay with credit card, you can use these organized receipts to balance against your account statement. Then put them in a letter sized envelope marked with the date. Keep these envelopes with the account statements. You can look over the account statement to find a specific receipt if you need it later. You’ll easily locate it in the corresponding envelope!

Please tell me you're not really this organized. I thought I was doing good by keeping my reciepts stuff into the cracks of my wallet, lol. *sigh*
Notice I said, "you CAN use these organized receipts to balance against your account statement." I didn't say I did! Someday I'll have enough time to be THAT organized! I'm working on it.
I have been looking everywhere for a good way to keep receipts. This is great! I do already use a red bank bag to keep medical receipts for reinbursement. I like the clear one you have for everyday receipts. Thanks!
Dear Lazy, I would like to make an organizing blog after reading yours. I think we lazies come up with better organizing ideas and we appreciate the organization so much more. I want to take pictures of my successes and show them off too. How do I begin to do a blog like this?? Thanks, Lazytoo
Lazytoo,
If you e-mail me then I can help you more. You're right, we Lazies need to stick together!
I used to shove all of my receipts into a pocket in my purse, but it was getting so out of hand. I didn't have time to sort through them. Finally, I decided the best thing for me personally to do was to put my daily receipts into my pants pocket. At the end of the day when I empty my pockets, I put the receipts into my receipt box. Now, I confess I do need a better system other than the receipt box. It is overwhelming, but at least they're not in my purse anymore.
BTW, I'm so glad that Target does the debit/credit card look up. Now I don't have to keep up with or dig for those receipts.
I'm looking into the Neat Receipts scanner/software deal. I cannot seem to get it together w/receipts. I generate so many per week and they end up everywhere.
Thanks for the info.
Do people still balance their checkbooks these days? Wow. My way of doing that is going online once a day and scanning through what's showing on my purchases on my checking account. That's about all I have time for.
