Laundry Room Organizer

Oh how I’ve wanted to post a photo of my new ultimate ironing board holder! I controlled myself though and waited till it was completely finished. I built and installed it several weeks ago but needed to finish caulking and painting it which I did yesterday. Yay!!!
I was getting so tired of my ironing board propped up in a corner and Stranger wouldn’t let me buy a holder for it. When I was looking at one at Target he said, “You could build something sturdier than that cheap thing.” Well look at that. I guess he was right. It was quite a project too considering it was my first in our new house so I had to hunt through boxes to find all my tools.
It holds my ironing board and iron, a bag full of dryer sheets, a bag of socks waiting patiently for their mates to come through the wash, and extra pegs where I can hang clothes that need ironing as I pull them out of the dryer. Now I need to go do laundry so I can have some wrinkled clothes to hang on my finished Laundry Room Organizer!

This is awesome, very impressed! Laura
I was intrigued, what are the odds of another tall Alaskan woman out there? What are your parents' names? Actually, I probably wouldn't know them anyway, Anchorage has three stakes with eight wards a piece. But we're right behind the temple which is rather central. ADAK? Never been, there's few places in Alaska I've been to though I've lived here all my life, it's just so big.
And you're organized too? A kindred spirit! You should see my closet. My sister says I need help with my propensity to organize and arrange things, she thinks it's unhealthy. :)
I got my little bags today, thanks!! Now I need to find something to organize...
This is a thing of beauty.
But if your ironing board is hanging tidily on the wall, where are you going to hang the piles of clean clothes for weeks until you get around to folding them? What? You actually put them away when they come out of the dryer? Oh, nevermind.
Thanks Junkie! I feel like I know you well enough now that I can call you that.
Scribbit, it is unhealthy and you've come to just the right place to feed your addiction!
SalGal, I'm sure you'll have fun coming up with all sorts of uses for them!
Julie, what do you mean piles of clean clothes? Doesn't everyone put their laundry away as soon as it comes out of the dryer? I'm confused! :)
How fun! Is your ironing board especially light or is that one really strong holder?
If I were to start building things, what tools would you suggest I buy (other than the obvious hammer)?
Ihose pegs are stronger than they look I guess. I could use them to hang my kids in time out if I wanted! (Let that be a warning to any children reading this!)
I started out with an electric drill and a set of drill/screw bits that my husband brought into the marriage. First we bought a circular saw for about $150 and a $25 sander. That’s all I had for a while until I found a craftsman (sears) compound miter saw at a garage sale for $100. I was ready to go to town with that! Eventually I bought a band saw at a garage sale, $50, that I have used very little. The icing on the cake was when my husband bought an air compressor and a finish nail gun. I lent my sander to a couple people that ruined it so we bought a nice orbital sander (which I recommend) for about $80 when we had a coupon to Home Depot this year. Don’t even think about asking to use it or Stranger will divorce me!
Oh, wow, that is SO clever! I have an ironing board here in my office/sewing room that just takes up space. I use it for my sewing, so there's no putting it in the garage. I'm going to hunt down a shelf like this for myself. I love it!
