30 Day Challenge

Ok, she talked me into it. I’m going to tackle this hall closet this month. I’ve sat and thought about it tonight and I think I know what I want to do with it after I clear all the tools out.
I’m going to build a bench into the back of it and put two big organizing tubs under the bench. One will hold swimming towels and one will hold swimming toys and equipment. On top of the bench is where we’ll store our huge swimming bag that we don’t really have a good place for right now. This will be great because this closet is right next to our mudroom. When the kids come in sopping wet from playing outside they will be able to grab a towel without yelling for me. Plus it will be easy to pack the swimming bag and run out the door with it when we need it.
Above the bench I’m going build a hook rack that goes all the way around the closet. Why use a hanger when you can use a hook? So much easier, don’t you think? In fact I think I will do two rows of hooks, one that the kids can reach and one up higher that Stranger and I can use. These will be great for coats, sweaters, backpacks, purses, hats, etc.
I have many projects that need finishing but I think this is one I can accomplish in 30 days, it will be oh so useful and it won’t cost a lot of money. Thanks for the challenge Laura!!!

You are handy with power tools too? I have a few projects that I could use help on but I don't know how to use any tools except a sander! Are you up to helping a friend with her 30 day project?
Sure! What do you have going? Do you want to do our projects together? When my sister and I get together, she usually ends up watching the kids while I do the building but that's ok by me. Be warned though, I have been known to knock down walls when people aren't looking!
Sounds like you have a definite plan in place...I love it. I can't believe how handy you are to be building shelves and all...very impressive. Great idea for the swimming gear...can't wait to see the after. Good luck! Laura
Also looking forward to seeing the after.
I gotta get me some power tools!
Hey Lara!
Last time I used power tools was yesterday. I did fix the backyard fence but had to use wooden blocks of other projects to rig it just right...eh, it's gonna fall over with the next wind I'm sure lol
Thanks Laura!
Kimberly, I love my tools!
Mike, Sounds like my kind of building! I drive my huband crazy but if he doesn't want to do it himself then he gets to live with my shoddy work!
what a great idea for the closet. can't wait to see the after
I can't wait to see the finished product. What I would give for a closet (we only have closets in our bedrooms)...and I'd give even more for one that was finished the way you describe yours! LOL
I can't wait to see it either and to start using it! Let's hope I get started on it soon!!!
It sounds fabulous!
(I couldn't use a power tool if I had to -- except a cordless screwdriver, does that count?
