Organize Your Pantry

I did some amazing organizing today and there wasn’t anything lazy about it. Can I just give myself a pat on the back for unpacking these boxes that were piled in my pantry? Yes, I know we have been in our new house for 8 months. Shut up! I've been waiting to get some shelves built in there but as you can see, that's not happening any time soon so I had to improvise.

I know I said I was going to do this but I had a brain cramp and cleaned out my pantry instead which may or may not have looked like this when I started. I'm not addmiting to anything.

I’ll get to that other thing soon. I promise.

I may or may not have gotten this far on Saturday.

Then I went crazy and did this today.

Isn't it pretty! I want to go in there and eat dinner on the little stool so I can soak it all in. Now I have a spot to grind my wheat so I won't have any more excuses for feeding my family white bread. I wanted it in my pantry so I could shut the door and hopefully shut out some of the noise in case people were sleeping. I know some people keep theirs out in the garage but I'm way to lazy to walk out there! You can't see it but that is my deep freeze on the left there. The garage was too far for that too so I designed a spot for it in my pantry.

Off the subject...See those little clay pots? Those are for baking muffins and cakes in! I made dirt cupcakes in them for a party once. Aren’t they adorable? They are real clay pots, just without the drain hole in the bottom. I get them out every year for Christmas breakfast. You can find my Coffee Cake recipe here.

Since we wash dishes by hand every day we don't need a lot of extras in the kitchen so I store them here. Don't ask me why I have all those plates. I never let anyone eat on them. I make guests use paper! Except for the important guests. So if you're eating on paper plates at my house you can pretty much figure you aren't important enough for my plain old ordinary white dishes. Either that or I love you enough that I want to spend time visiting with you instead of washing dishes.

Sigh, I finally get to sit at the computer after 9 straight hours of cleaning. I knew I'd pay for taking a vacation by having a disaster to clean when I got back but this went beyond my expectations. I found food in very odd places (spaghetti sauce in my slippers?) Seeing your pantry pictures made me start to twitch after so much cleaning, but I do love it when everything sparkles! I'm an organizer at heart myself.

You have the shelves from Costco! I have them too! I LOVE THEM! One day, probably never, I will have a pantry to put mine in, too. And what a FABULOUS idea to put your extra freezer in there!

I have GOT to get out of this apartment...

Poor Scribbit! Having fun is a lot of work isn't it! Are you ready to get back to real life?

Salgal, I love the shelves too. Don't forget that a bigger house just means more cleaning!
