Sour Cream Coffee Cake

Susan asked me for my Christmas cake recipe. I make this recipe every Christmas morning in muffin pots. I couldn't find anywhere on the internet to buy these pots but I read that you can take a regular clay pot and line it with parchment. I usually double this recipe. It's delicious! I guess I'm going to have to make this now so I can add a photo!

Sour Cream Coffee Cake

1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 tablespoon vanilla
1 teaspoon baking powder

Filling
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/8 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon butter
1 teaspoon flour

Preheat oven to 375. Mix butter sugar and egg until light and fluffy. In a separate bowl, mix the remaining ingredients together. Swirl in 1/2 the filling mixture. Spoon into muffin pots, muffin tins or a bread pan. Fill 3/4 full. Top muffins with remaining mixture. Bake for 30-35 minutes, longer if you're using a bread pan.

This sounds delicious. I want pictures! And I love the clay pots idea.

We also have the tradition of eating coffee cake on Christmas morning, but in the past I've used a (sorry to admit) Bisquick recipe. This one sounds way more Norman Rockwell-y.

Oh yum! This sounds delicious. My mom and I were actually looking at one of these today in the bakery and decided to pass on it. I might have to whip one up tomorrow. Thanks for sharing the recipe! =)
