Organize Your Measuring Cups

I keep measuring cups in my baking supplies so I don't have to wash them every time I use them because I don't know, I'm lazy? I always use a 1 cup for oats so that's what I keep in my oat container. A 1/2 cup works in my brown sugar, granola and rice.

I keep four sizes in my flour and sugar drawer and use them for both.

I even have room to keep my sifter right in my flour container. Looks like there's room for more flour in there too!

Don't even think about it.

Just buy some extra sets of measuring cups from a garage sale or thrift store. You could even buy them new since they're not that expensive. I usually use the cup and the 1/2 cup. You can give the extra 1/3 and 1/4 cups to your kids to play with in their kitchen, sandbox or bathtub. You definitely don't want to clutter up your baking center with them like I did! If you use this method you do not need several sets of measuring cups. One set in your baking center is plenty. If you use your 1/2 cup but you need it again for another ingredient, guess what? You can wash it out and use it again or you can pull one out of your flour bin and use that.

Have fun organizing your measuring cups and don't forget to join us for Smart Habit Saturday this week!

I'm addicted to WFMW. I wish I had time to read and comment to every post because all of your ideas are so great!

Your tubs are awesome!! I do the same thing with leaving a measuring scoop in my cannisters, but I don't have room for the whole sifter, or many different sizes. :)

I'm linking to this!! :)

Hey! it's me...previously known as pbj in the vcr...anyway, I had a mishap and now have another blog.

I LOVE measuring cups in the containers. You must bake much more than me though. I don't think I've ever seen so many oats in one spot! Great idea.

I do this, although I don't have the great storage area you have! I have smaller containers (actually they're clear, airtight cereal canisters), but I keep a 1/4 C. in my brown and white sugars and a 1/2 C. and a teaspoon (for adding as a thickener) in my flour. Great tip! Thanks for inducing the storage envy in me (just kidding). Thanks for sharing!

I absolutely LOVE your storage containers! I am going to have to get me some of those. :-) I need to keep the measuring cups in my containers, too. Great tip!

Note to self: Do not be jealous over all that space. Do not be jealous over all that space. Repeat as necessary.

This is a great tip.

Thank you for this tip! I currently have 1/3 measuring cup in the oats, 1 Tablespoon in the laundry detergent (it really only needs 1 tablespoon with this brand), and a 1/3 cup in the homemade hot chocolate. But I LOVE the idea of putting several sizes in the sugar and flour, and LEAVING THEM THERE! SO GENIUS! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

How did you know that just this week I was getting tired of my measuring cups falling out of my cabinets & didn't know what to do with them?

Thanks for the tip. I am going to have to do this.

My Mother does this...and I have always wanted to, but I have not had the chance to purchase more measuring cups yet...maybe someday. ;)

Great idea! I do it some and wasn't even aware of it. We keep a 1 TBSP in the coffee container and I keep a 1/3 cup in the sugar container. I know that when I make a gallon of tea that I need exactly 5 scoops of sugar. Thanks for sharing!

What a terrific idea! I am so envious of your baking center. I should do this myself. Right now I have a measuring cup in the flour, sugar, and coffee. So, I guess I kind of do do this. Anyway, I love the visuals and your baking center looks great! Thanks for sharing!!!

I love it!! I hate washing the scoops while cooking, but I have just never thought of getting one for each tub!

That's a great tip...that's where my measuring cups stay too....I love the measuring spoons in the little tray. That is very nice.
We are contstantly losing ours because they don't get put away correctly.

Thanks for sharing!

You are a genius. I love the way you always think of things that shave time off of everyday tasks.

But Gabie may object since he lives to clean my measuring cups out in the soapy sink. Maybe I'll have to get an extra set just for him.

This is a great idea! I've just got my measuring cups sitting in a drawer right now, I'm going to have to try this. Thanks!

I absolutely love this idea. Darn it--I was just at the Dollar Store tonight. I wish I had read this before I went; I would have picked up a couple of sets. That would be money well spent. Thanks for the great idea!!!!

When would you be available to help me build a desk/shelf in a bedroom? YOu are handy-I am tool challenged.

Too weird! I just bought a new set last week - and Neil rolled his eyes at me as if that was a silly thing to do.

Pfft! =P

What a brilliant idea. I'm absolutely gobsmacked over the simplicity! I feel a bit stupid for never having thought of it myself! ;)
