Smart Habit Saturday
How did everyone do with their habits this week? If you are new and you want to take charge of your life by developing positive habits then feel free to join us. Thank you Kara for our fun new banner and thanks to everyone who joined in! I didn't see anyone volunteer to bring snacks so I'm doing them again this week but someone had better sign up for next week or I'm going to have to start calling on people!SMART Habit Saturday is all about making one small change in your life at a time. Pick one daily habit that you want to start, post about it (please link back to The Lazy Organizer) and then leave your *link here so that we can all check up on your progress and give encouragement! Next week you can post an update and a new SMART Habit or just keep working on this week’s habit for 21 days. Don’t forget it takes 21 days to make a new habit so you’re not off the hook at the end of one week. Keep working on it!
Last week I picked cleaning the toilet every day before I shower as my new SMART Daily habit. I did ok but I wasn’t perfect. I cleaned it the first day and then the second day I forgot so I posted this on the shower door:
From then on I did really well and one day I think I even cleaned it twice because I showered in the morning and again after my evening workout! Then I forgot again yesterday. Apparently my friendly little reminder doesn’t work if I don’t notice it. I need something in neon! I did learn this week that I like having a spotlessly clean toilet, especially with the Potty Monkey that hangs around here. I’m going to keep working on this over the next couple weeks while I begin a new habit.
After all your hard work this week you deserve to take a break and enjoy this tasty Bruschetta that I brought for everyone to try. Let me know how you like it!
It is so difficult to pick just one habit to work on because there are so many areas of my life that need improvement but if I try to do it all at once I am sure to fail. This week my new habit is going to be Prayer which has been hit and miss for me lately. My goal is to have personal prayer every morning and night and family prayer once a day. This is something I really need in my life so I can't keep putting it off. I have to make room for it now!
I’m going to start keeping track of my habits in my planner so I can look back and see how I’ve done. I’ll write a T on the days that I clean the toilet and P for prayer three times a day.
I’m as scared to commit to daily prayer as I was to commit to cleaning the potty last week. I survived didn’t I? I’ll survive this week too. I don’t know why making changes is such a challenging thing for most of us but change we must so let’s have a great new week!

I can't believe I am first to link this week. I was late last week so I worked hard to improve and not be late this week. I guess that means I don't need you to write me an excuse this week :).
Glad to hear you came up with some ways to remind you of your goals. I like the idea of putting it on your planner. I also think prayer is a good habit to begin. What a difference it will make in your life. I'm looking forward to hearing how you do.
Is is okay to copy the banner and put it on my SMART Habit post?
~Betty~
Good to see you here on time Betty! Yes, Kara offered to let everyone use her banner so go grab it.
I'm still trying to think of a good habit because as you say, I'm overwhelmed by the many many choices of things about myself I need to fix.
Thanks for the treat, it looks yummy and makes me wish it were summer again when I had fresh tomatoes and fresh basil growing right outside my kitchen.
Thanks for the yummy treats. I'll bring them next week. (better to get it over with before being asked.. then I can't say no).
Hope your goal is successful this week. Now looking at your planner you'll never forget to buy toilet paper with all those T P's all over the place.
Okay, I know it is after my computer shutting down time and my bedtime, but I had my post ready to go earlier today and we got home late tonight because we went out for my birthday dinner, so time doesn't count tonight :) !!
LOL at Andrea's TP comment. Now you really won't forget to clean your toilet and say your prayers this week. Good luck!
P.S. I can bring the treat the week after next, after Andrea's turn ... just remind me I am in charge!
I'm here! Oh, I brought dessert this week! And, volunteered to do it next week, too! But, I see you have some other volunteers!!! Your new habit is one I will be adding later on! You can do it, girl! Thanks for hosting this...I love it! Sorry, I missed last week. :( Have a great weekend!
Congrats on keeping the toilet so clean! I think prayer is an awesome choice for this week. Good ideas on keeping track of your success. Now that we are on the second habit I think that it is important to track our progress so as not to forget the first one that we worked so hard on last week. I think I may print out a calendar just for this purpose. Thanks for the idea!
Good job :D I should make cleaning the toilet more one of my goals in the next few weeks. I think I might make a calendar to keep track of mine too.
I'm doing pretty well. This was such a great idea, Lara!! Thanks!
MMMMmmmmm, the bruschetta is delicious, thanks Lara. I really need to pick just one thing to work on but my main habit is organization so it will probably have many different faces but still be under the organization heading.
YUMMY!! Thanks for the bruschetta! Just think, you already thought more about your toilet this week than you probably did last year at this time! So you are making progress!!
And, as a side note, I can't put reminders up to myself. I only "see" them for a day or two and then they blend in with everything!!
And I love your calendar idea.
Good luck this week!
Oh - question for you...do you separate your prayers into categories for different days? Or do you "organize" your prayers in any specific way?
I'm late, it's Sunday here!
Hey,
I am in Idaho freezing! It was -20! I have spent 2 days loading music on mom's new ipod I told her she needed! She already has more than 4G. More music than a store. I have had a few more comments, I think from your links. I just have to learn-really how to use them more!
I have to say I was giggling at toilet cleaning and bruschetta in the same post, but oh well! Daily habits are indeed the key to long term success when keeping a clean and organized home.
You are quite the inspiration to those of us who are Organizationally challenged.
I'll be playing along this week with my goal of organizing one drawer (or closet) each day.
Wish me luck on that one.
Lara! Why oh why does every email I try to send you bounce back at me? I'm trying not to take it personally but I'm beginning to wonder if I smell bad or something. Please let me know if there's another reason.
Thanks for the yummies! I'm off to work on my habits early today - looking forward to bragging it up this week instead of hanging my head in shame!
Thanks for starting this. Everyone has been so supportive! Good luck on your goals!
having trouble posting! I still need help with the linking thing. Will you come and repeat my lessons?
I hope that I can start feeling a bit more in charge of my life-instead of it controlling me! Sugar be gone from my life!!!
