Smart Habit Saturday
Welcome to Smart Habit Saturday! I have some news for you this week. I know there are a lot of people that are thinking of joining us but they haven't made the plunge yet. They might be wondering if they can really do it. They might be wondering if it is worth humiliating themselves publicly in order to make the changes they want to make. I'm not saying it's easy. It takes a brave soul to share their weaknesses and struggles with the world. All I can say is it's worth it.This week I read in the Ensign a talk by by D. Todd Christofferson to the men of the Church but it applies to us women too, "True manhood (or womanhood) is not always measured by the fruits of one's labors but by the labors themselves - by one's striving. Though he (she) will make some sacrifices and deny himself (herself) some pleasures in the course of honoring his (her) commitments, the true man (woman) leads a rewarding life." " We all know that it's the journey that matters. We have a commitment to our families to do our best in taking care of them.
That brings me to my news. Anyone who participates in SHS for two weeks in a row by the end of March will be entered into a drawing to win 5 free Organizing Bags, three large and two small! Won't that be fun? I would love your help spreading the news so let your readers know that now is the time to join us at Smart Habit Saturday. I don't want to be responsible for leaving anyone out of the drawing so once you have completed two weeks of SHS please e-mail me and I will put your name on the list. If you have been participating all along go ahead and e-mail me now.
If you are new to SHS find out all about it here: Getting Started with SHS. Click here to read more SHS posts. Please don't forget to link back to this post so your readers can find out more about SHS.
This has been a stressful week for me and I didn't do my best with my habits. I have been busy writing talks. It's not like I have spent every minute working on them but I have spent every minute worrying about them instead of thinking about my habits! I have a new plan that might help me in the future. I'm going to make Joe's Goals my homepage so I don't forget to check my habits off every day.
I'm not going to make any new habits for next week. I'm going to keep working on what I've got because I really want to get better at keeping the kitchen counter cleaned off.
Week #7 - Playing with my kids - I did this all but about two days.
Week #7 - Playing with my kids - I did this all but about two days.

I am so sorry you had such a tough week. That is never fun. I am sure your talks will be remarkable, though. Do you give them on Sunday?
I am all over wanting to win 5 organizing bags. I have been worshiping those things since I found your site. Maybe the stars will be aligned right and I will actually win something :)!!
Or maybe I can win a bag because I am always the crazy one who links first on your site :)!! (J/K)
Wow we get to be develop new habits to make our lives better for ourselves & our families AND win the organizing bags in the process! What more could we want!
I was just at Wal-Mart tonight and as I was browsing at some of the organizing containers I thought of your bags. As I was looking at the different office supplies & orgazation items I thought this is okay, but I think I would rather get Laura's organizing bags. I really have been wanting to order some for a while now - however money is real tight right now and that would be a want item not a need item. Therefore it would be so cool to win them.
Thanks for offering your bags.
I will have my post up tomorrow.
~Betty~
I was actually the first to link but Ordinary Mom pushed me :(
Thanks for sharing the inspirational message. I definitely need to remember that when I'm trudging along trying to get through each day.
The contest is a fun idea! Thanks for the extra incentive. :)
Hope you have a less stressful week!
Well, I'm taking the SHS plunge . . . I've been reading Kara's blog, and Rachel and Kimberly, and have gotten inspired! Thanks Lara! :) Will go post my first SHS goal right now! :)
oops! I did this wrong . . . I can't even do the signing up thing right? HELP! LOL
Sorry for pushing you Misslionheart, it wasn't intentional :) !!
Ok, I fixed a couple links and I'm sorry Misslionheart but you got sent to the back of the line for not obeying the rules and for starting trouble.
Now everyone be good because I need to go finish my talk. I probably won't be able to check in with everyone till Monday.
Have a great weekend!
Can I win even though I'm Canadian?? I'd pay extra for shipping if I won! =P
Good luck with your talk! You'll be fabulous!
What a great quote. I need to go read my Ensign. Can that compensate for me not getting it together enough to plan a smart habit this week? Wait, I know, I'll read a bit of the Ensign every day and count that. Whew. That was easy.
great quote. hope your talk goes smoothly. Our ward is so big and loud that giving talks is not a big deal because I just think, what would I like to blab to myself about for 15 minutes. good fun.
Thanks for the incentive! I needed that!
I'm not sure I should be eligible to win since I'm so pathetic with my goals, but I have been here since week 1 or 2. See I can't even remember that.
How did your talks go Lara? Isn't it amazing how fast the sacrament portion of the meeting goes when you have to give a talk? I'm always amazed by that. Hope you had a good Sabbath.
Can't wait! Do you want me to e-mail my address now? lol
