Keep Snacks Fresh

You know my obsession for bags right? I couldn't live without them! When I have anything in the kitchen that comes in a box, I throw the box away and I used to use a clothes pin to close the bag. Well, we don’t go through bags of chips very quickly so they were always going stale.

I finally got smart and started transfering my chips, cereal, pasta, beans, tea bags, etc. into gallon sized resealable plastic bags. I line them up in a wash tub in my pantry or in the snack drawer in the kitchen. The bags work better than using a clothes pin that can fall off, allowing the contents to get dumped in the bottom of the snack drawer, although I still use clothes pins to close bread bags and such. I just wash the plastic bags when they're empty and use them again.

Keep Chips FreshDo you know the fastest way to get a baggie dry after you’ve washed it? Stuff it with a dry dish towel and before the next meal, it will be ready to store.

This has worked wonderfully for us. There is no more mess and snacks stay fresh forever!

I use and reuse my ziplock bags all the time. Thanks for the drying tip, though! And clothespins are another essential item in my kitchen.

Since I get my Ziploc bags at Costco...I usually have them on hand and use them for EVERYTHING! I tend to sort out cereal so it doesn't go stale, etc! Great idea!

If only chips would go stale in our house... LOL - we polish them off within a couple of days.

I love your idea to dry a ziploc bag! I used to put them over the tap mixer (you call taps faucets :) ) but this is much better!

Another great way to dry Ziploc bags is to just turn them inside out!

It's a great system, the Ziploc - my MIL does the same thing with chips and snacks. What I've discovered, however, is our little rodent friends can get through a Ziploc bag more easily than the original chip bag (imagine my dismay as I realize there is a raggedy hole in the baggie of tortilla chips I'm eating from - blech). :S So, anything in my pantry is in a plastic tub - mouse proof!

I'm a box tosser by nature, but horrifyingly I'm also a bag tosser. Ah, the disposable generation!

I'm going to be inspired by you and reuse my bags.

This will make my husbands day. =)

This also works when you wash out a vase. Roll up a paper towel and stick it down in the neck, the water will wick out overnight.
