Run!
I pray for inspiration every day and I often receive it. I really need it because couldn’t do the things I do all on my own! The last couple weeks I have been thinking about cutting back my workouts from five days a week to three days a week. I feel like I could do more with my kids if we had a couple more evenings together to read and study. We just don’t get to all the books we want to read during our afternoon study time.
So I have been praying about my workouts. I thought that if my Heavenly Father wants me to spend more time with my kids then he will make my workouts more effective so I can cut back. Finally yesterday I got my answer. The answer was, go to the gym three days a week and the days that you don’t go, you can go running outside to make up for it. What? That is not what I wanted to hear!!! Oh well, He knows best so I had better do what I’m told.
I’m worried because when I have to workout at home it is easy for me to find excuses not to do it. I need to find a way to make sure I fit it in. This will be great though. It will save us time driving in to the gym and it will give me a chance to get outside to enjoy this beautiful weather. I just hate running outside. I’m a big baby and I like my treadmill.
Ugh, all this whining is making me sick!
We are so excited today because we are going to go garage sale-ing. I made a list of all the things I will be looking for and I know I will find at least one thing on my list! Remember Lara’s Law? Is there something on your shopping list that you don't want to pay a lot of money for? Don't walk, RUN to your nearest garage sale!

Yes. Run - and run with a friend. I have recently started to run it is a 10 week program because I am a beginner runner - for example the first week you run 90 sec and then walk 60 for 3-40 min ... anyway we make plans to run at 6 or 7 AM and that is the only reason I get myself out there. If I wasn't meeting someone I would turn the alarm off and get that extra 30 minutes of sleep. It works to have a buddy - I am proof! Good luck!!
Good luck with the new program - doesn't a switch in priorities feel just great? So wishing garage sale season would start up here, I'm getting excited!
If running outside is what you are supposed to be doing, then I think you will find the desire and the willpower to do it :)!!
Happy Garage Sale Shopping!
I understand about whatever form of exercise you love and know, but I abhor a treadmill, and LOVE to run outside -- so that I can worship God for every part of His creation! This is an especially glorious time of year to be doing that (okay, I have to be completely honest -- I don't run anymore, but I do walk and worship now). Make your run a constant prayer of praise and worship. You will CRAVE that time of renewal from the Father.
Is is possible for you to run first thing in the morning? If I try to take an afternoon walk or run, life always gets in the way. If I do it before I'm fully awake, I wake up on the road before I can come up with any excuses.
I wish I could work out in the morning but it makes me too tired and worn out all day. That's why I do it in the afternoon when I'm tired anyway. Instead of having a nap we are off to the gym.
I have been thinking about this all day and the potential benifits of running outside. One thing I thought of is that my kids like to run with me but they can't use the treadmills at the gym. This way we will all get to exercise together at least a couple days a week. My older two make great running partners but the baby not so much. At least I have Bob!
I don't run, I walk, but I am able to incorporate chatting with my kiddos while I do it, plus end it with a visit to the park. Works well for us!
oooooooo never thought about actually praying about my running.. probably a good thing to do! Thanks for the encouragement!
