Smart Habit Saturday
Congratulations to Lucy at An Ordinary Mom for winning the drawing for April! Go check out the drawing if you haven't already.I have another book to give away to SHS participants in May. It's called Speed Cleaning by Jeff Campbell and of course I will make you a bag to put it in. I love the book and I love his products at The Clean Team. I need to do a whole post on speed cleaning products so I can tell you which ones I use. If you have any cleaning questions you can get them answered on his website.
Participate in SHS for 3 out of 4 weeks to qualify for the drawing. I'm going to treat you like I do my kids and make you do all the work. If you want to be entered in the drawing then e-mail me the links to your entries when you're done with three of them. That makes it so much easier for me and I'm all about my life being easier!
If you are new to SHS find out all about it here: Getting Started with SHS. Click here to read more SHS posts. Please don't forget to link back to this post so your readers can find out more about SHS.
It's been another sick week so instead of doing craft projects with my kids in the afternoons I have been sleeping! I've had this thing for three weeks now and just when I start feeling better for a few days it gets worse again. We did do projects twice and just doing that much makes me feel like I should get a Mother of the Week award! See how new habits make us feel good about ourselves?
I have also been secretly working on a new habit this week, going to bed early. Can you believe it? I can't! So many of you have been working on it this year but I knew I would fail so I didn't try. I finally feel like it's a habit I'm ready for. I went to a Leadership Education retreat last weekend and was inspired to get working on it. (That's why my post was so early last week. I had to get it posted before I left. And it's also why I didn't get a chance to visit everyone else's posts. Sorry!)
My goal is to be in bed by 9:00 to read and be asleep by 10:30. I hope to start getting up at 6:00 (someday 5:00?) so I can spend a couple hours writing and studying before my kids get up. I managed to be up by 6:30 a few days but the other days I felt like I needed all the sleep I could get. I'm going to keep working on my early to bed, early to rise habit next week. I think if I can manage this habit I will finally feel like a responsible grownup instead of a lazy bum who can't get out of bed before 8:00 a.m.!
Here are the rest of the habits I have been working on this year. Some of them are habits and some of them still need a lot of work but all of them have improved my life!
Crafts with kids - Working on it.
Using Crock Pot - Doing better.
Paperwork, again, and again - Doing better.
Have lunch ready by Noon - Good
Turn Off Computer during chores - Surprisingly I am doing this really well.
Become a Dresser, Playing games with my kids and reading my Church Magazine - I ran out of magazines. I'm all caught up with the back issues and going through withdrawls!
Kitchen and studio clutter free - Good
Clear Counters - Good
Clear Desk - Good
Review Planner - Habit
Daily Prayer - Habit
Clean Toilet - Good

No more 2 am nights for you? WOW! I am impressed. Good luck this week. I like how you get to read every night before you go to bed. That is another good habit right there.
I'm working on that goal too. Good luck to you. I too love to read before bed. Hope you feel better soon.
Good luck with going to bed early and waking up early. I am forced to do that. DH has to commute so he is out the door by 6:15!!
I think my body is declaring getting to bed by a decent time as I'm passing out on the couch before I normally would go to bed each night. I miss some of my shows but I do feel better in the morning so it's not all bad.
good luck with continuing to going to bed early. i love that you scheduled a good chunk of time in to read before you go to sleep! and it gives you time to work in the mornings - very nice! keep taking care and hope you feel 'all better' soon.
I hope whatever nasty little bug you have decides to leave soon!
So what books do you have on your nightstand to read?
I'm not sure I could ever get to bed that early, but that much reading time does sound enticing.
I'm so sorry you still feel icky! I hope it passes soon.
I'm sorry you are STILL sick, that's really cruddy! :( I hope that virus or bug you have goes away soon so you can get back to feeling more normal. Good luck this week with your goals. You will see a huge difference with going to bed early for sure.
Duh, I just posted, but I think I'm going to change it. Is it too late? Let's see what I can do...
Just edited my post.
Anyway, Lara, I hope you feel better soon. That's the pits!
My goal this week is the opposite of yours. I'm hoping to keep myself awake enough to get my home picked up before going to bed for the night. :o) I tire out really easily at nightime & I have to force myself to do the evening chores. Good luck to you this week!
At first, I wanted that to be my goal too. I have been staying up until 2 am far too many nights lately. Unfortunately, I forgot that Ty has a med at 12am that I need to disconnect at 1 am. Maybe next week.
Thanks for starting this, I've been wanting to join in for some time.
