Smart Habit Saturday
Participate in SHS for 3 out of 4 weeks in May to be entered in a drawing for Speed Cleaning by Jeff Campbell and of course I will make you an Organizing Bag to put it in. I love the book and I love his products at The Clean Team. If you want to be entered in the drawing, e-mail me the links to your entries when you're done with three of them. That makes it so much easier for me and I'm all about my life being easier! If you are new to SHS find out all about it here: Getting Started with SHS. Click here to read more SHS posts. Please don't forget to link back to this post so your readers can find out more about SHS.
My goal this month is to be in bed by 9:00 to read, asleep by 10:30 and up by 6:30.
I'm still not getting up as early as I want but I am getting much better at getting the kids and I to bed by nine. They are getting used to the new schedule but sometimes they have a difficult time falling asleep when it's still light outside! I really have got to get some window coverings made for their windows. Victor has a blanket in his window and the girls don't have anything!
So I have been setting my alarm for 6:30 and dragging myself out of bed by 6:45. Unfortunately I still don't have time to do any studying before little Lovely gets up around 7:15. It takes me about that long to do my morning devotional and check my e-mail. I just don't see how this is ever going to work. Even waking up at 6:30 makes me exhausted for the rest of the day. How will I ever get up at 6:00??? I just wish I was one of those people who only needed 6 hours of sleep!
Ok, that's enough whining for one night. Now tell me about your habits!
Here are the other habits I have been working on this year. Some of them are already habits and some of them still need a lot of work but all of them have improved my life!
Getting to bed early, again - still working on it
Crafts with kids - Working on it.
Using Crock Pot - Great and loving it!
Paperwork, again, and again - failing
Have lunch ready by Noon - Ok
Turn Off Computer during chores - Good
Become a Dresser - Good
Playing games with my kids - Terrible
Reading my Church Magazine - Great!
Kitchen and studio clutter free - Good
Clear Counters - Great
Clear Desk - Good
Review Planner - Habit
Daily Prayer - Habit
Clean Toilet - Not great

I've been blessed (cursed?) to be one of those who needs only 5-6 hours of sleep. You'd think I'd get more done than I do!
Great going with the sleep thing. On the crockpot habit - have you found a cookbook you like?
No, I haven't used any cookbooks. So far I have just been adapting my own recipes for the crock pot. My favorite thing to do is cook a whole chicken in it with potatoes for dinner and then make tacos or quesadillas with the leftovers the next day. Whole wheat tortillas are my new best friend! Well, after my crock pot that is.
I am one who needs 9 hours of sleep. I wish I needed less, but it just doesn't happen.
Some of your habits seem to be going extremely well! Hooray!
Okay I am super disappointed I missed out on the drawing. I really want that book!! And it is a good thing b/c my motives, obviously, were not pure. However, I do hope to post a SMART Habit soon. Enjoy your blog as usual. Thanks.
It does seem weird sending the kiddos to bed when it is still light out, doesn't it? At least it's also light at the CRACK of dawn when we are getting up!! :-)
I think it would be even harder if it was dark, don't you?
Good luck this week!
Good luck with the early to bed, early to rise thing. I'm still having a hard time working on my bedtime of 11:30, then I get up a little before 7 every week day. I wish I could function on less sleep too, but any less than 8 hrs makes me a zombie. I'll get my SHS post up tomorrow :)
Sounds like you are doing great on a lot of your habits! Good luck with the early to bed/early to rise one.
First post today!
It's hard to get to bed early and get up early. But you keep trying and soon it will be a habit. :) We used to do the blanket in the window to keep the light out. Works great! Sorry the paperwork still isn't going well. Maybe turn that one over to your husband. ;)
I am up by 6 every morning but not by choice. My baby wakes for her morning feeding and by the time that I'm done with that my other little one is up and there's no chance of me getting back to sleep. Plus I don't nap well. And I a night owl. So I can empathize. I wish you the best in turning this into a habit. Great job on all the rest!
Hi, all congrats on you goals Laura. I get a D- for my goals. I don't use a crock pot, so no suggestions. 8 days and I'm done teaching for 10 weeks. Yeh.
Good luck waking up earlier.
Great ideas! I am motivated. hello from Venezuela ,by the way.
Hey you! I am back! Perhaps I will actually be able to keep my counter clean. It is my main habit that I continue to work on-doing better with it!
I am hoping that within the next 2 weeks we can make desks!
