The Potty Training Diaries
June 8th
Wow, it's been three weeks since the last time I wore a diaper but it really seems like a lot longer. I almost can't even remember when I used to wear them because I've been wearing panties for so long and I'm such a big girl now.
I can even poop in the potty (that was the hardest part to learn) and I haven't had any accidents for a whole week! My Mom said it only took two weeks to potty train me but it took three months to potty train my big brother and sister because she did everything wrong. She said she learned a lot of things that made it easier this time but I don't know what she's talking about because everyone knows that I've been doing all the work.
She says that once she decided I was ready to potty train, she bought me panties and never put another diaper on me so I wouldn't get confused. She never ever used a pull up.
Someone told her that it was easier to potty train for the day and the night all at the same time so you don't have to do it twice and they were right! She just put my crib matress on the floor since I have been sleeping in a big bed and she didn't want me having accidents in it. She did put plastic training pants on me at night but after wetting in them a few times I didn't like it so now I wake up dry every morning.
My Mommy never yelled at me or got mad when I had accidents. She always told me it was ok and didn't want me to feel bad. She said that I was just learning and I was trying my best.
She told everyone not to ask me all the time if I had to go potty. She just had them take me with them when they went and when she took me she always asked me if I wanted to pull my pants down by myself or if I wanted her to do it. I always like to do it myself!
She never bought me any special potties or toilet seats because she knows that little kids want to be big and use the big potty like everyone else does. It didn't take long for me to learn to get on the potty with a stool and now I don't even have to have a stool. I can just climb up by myself and I never fall in. At least I haven't so far.
That's just about all I have to say about potty training. I hope you have as much fun getting potty trained as I did!
P.S. My mom told me to tell you that her secret weapon for teaching me to poop in the potty was grapes. I don't know why but they sure are good!

Lovely, we are sending out a big Hooray!! from our house to yours! I hope that soon it will be the other way around :)!
Yea for being potty trained. I agree the big potty is where it's at.
Thanks for all the insights, Lovely. Emma sure will be grateful!
Yay, Lovely!! Great job!
congrats! my wee one is refusing to use the potty lately, even though she deposited successfully in it once or twice before - she simply shrieks, throws a tantrum and runs away - i am poring over your potty-trianing diaries for tips and pointers.
Wow!! Congratulations, Lovely!
Congrats, Lovely! Any advice on how to potty train a big 2 year old boy? I hear they are a little different to handle than girls.
I've heard the same thing about pull ups. My son is 2.5 and I sure want him potty trained soon!
Congratulations! We're still struggling. She's not quite 3, so I guess I should still be patient. My first-born spoiled me - he trained in a weekend!
congrats you're such a big girl :)
