Smart Habit Saturday
*UpdateI'm going to work on an old habit this week. My kids and I have done a pretty good job of reading scriptures together this last year but lately we seem to be skipping it more and more often. I hope by making it a SHS habit we will get back to a regular daily routine.
I have found that the easiest way to read scriptures is to have everyone take turns reading one verse. It's the only way to keep the kid's attention from wandering when it's not their turn to read. We usually read 2-4 pages a day. Everyone has their own book, even Lovely, and we keep them in a basket on the coffee table along with whatever book we are reading together at the moment.
This week I'm also going to work on playing games with the kids when they're done with their jobs. Of course I can't remember these things and they haven't been reminding me so I am going to have them add it to the bottom of their list of chores. Why didn't I think of this before??
These are the entries I have for the drawing for May. Lucy, Thea, Kara, Tirzah, Melanie, Rebecca, Michelle, Jennifer, Andrea and Julie. If you don't see your name and you sent me an e-mail with your three entries then try again or leave a comment here. I will try to get the drawing posted in the next couple of days!
Here are the other habits I have been working on this year. Some of them are already habits and some of them still need a lot of work but all of them have improved my life!
Getting to bed early, again - doing better
Crafts with kids - Working on it.
Using Crock Pot - Great and loving it!
Paperwork, again, and again - failing
Have lunch ready by Noon - Ok
Turn Off Computer during chores - Habit
Become a Dresser - Good
Playing games with my kids - Terrible
Reading my Church Magazine - Habit
Kitchen and studio clutter free - Good
Clear Counters - Great
Clear Desk - Good
Review Planner - Habit
Daily Prayer - Habit
Clean Toilet - Not great
Hello everyone! I just got back from my trip tonight and wanted to get this up for you to add your SHS link. I'll update it tomorrow when I have more time.
Ha! Like I'll really have more time tomorrow! Maybe I will steal a few moments between unpacking and laundry.
If you are new to SHS find out all about it here: Getting Started with SHS. Click here to read more SHS posts. Please don't forget to link back to this post so your readers can find out more about SHS.
*Important - Please link to your individual SMART Habit post instead of your home page or else my Obsessive Compulsive Disorder will have to spend time fixing the links. Here is how you link to an individual post if you’ve never done it before: Right click on the date at the bottom of the post you want to link to (or the post title depending on where you blog) click “Copy Shortcut” and then paste it into Mr. Linky.

how do I get started with SHS?
Okay, after dragging my feet and just watching everyone else set good habits, I've decided to jump in and do it too. It is a great idea, thanks for putting it together.
