Smart Habit Saturday

Welcome!

"In truth, the only difference between those who have failed and those who have succeeded lies in the difference of their habits. Good habits are the key to all success. Bad habits are the unlocked door to failure. Thus, the first law I will obey, which precedeth all others is-I will form good habits and become their slaves."

"As a child I was slave to my impulses; now I am slave to my habits, as are all grown men. I have surrendered my free will to the years of accumulated habits and the past deeds of my life have already marked out a path which threatens to imprison my future. My actions are ruled by appetite, passion, prejudice, greed, love, fear, environment, habit and the worst of these tyrants is habit. Therefore, if I must be a slave to habit let me be a slave to good habits. My bad habits must be destroyed and new furrows prepared for good seed."

The Greatest Salesman in the World, by OG Mandino

We all know how strong an influence our habits can be in our lives but have you ever though of being a slave to them? Are you imprisoned by them? If bad habits are keeping you from reaching your life's goals then you are.

So we have two options here: bad habits = the easy path = not reaching our goals, or good habits = the difficult path = success! If you're not choosing the second path the you are choosing the first one by default so let's get working on those good habits!

I'm going to work on exercise this week. NormallyI don't have a problem getting to the gym but something has come over me this year and I have too many other things I want to be doing with my kids! You can tell by looking at me too. I am going to make a goal of working out five days this next week to whip my butt back into shape. Starting tomorrow!

My daily checklist form if you want to edit it for yourself - Smart Habits

Here are the other habits I have been working on this year. Some of them are already habits and some of them still need a lot of work but all of them have improved my life. I think my greatest habit of all is my habit of making new habits!

Bed/Bath/Laundry - So great!
Using Habit Chart - Loving it!
Using Chap stick - Great! Oh yes. My life has been greatly improved by chap stick people.
Reading scriptures with kids - Not very good this week.
Getting to bed early, again - Nadda.
Crafts with kids - Working on it.
Using Crock Pot - Still eating salads!
Paperwork, again, and again - Working on it this week.
Have lunch ready by Noon - Ok
Turn Off Computer during chores - Habit
Become a Dresser - Habit
Playing games with my kids - Not great
Reading my Church Magazine - Habit
Kitchen and studio clutter free - Good
Clear Counters - Great
Clear Desk - Good
Review Planner - Habit
Daily Prayer - Habit
Clean Toilet - I have three toilets and I'm doing one every day.

Looks like you are doing pretty good on most of your goals :) Good job! I'm obviously not doing well on my bedtime one, seeing as it's almost 12:45am lol.

If you think you're showing your out of shapeness - I must be burning people's eyes out. So you have motivated me to attempt to whip my butt (shapely though it is) back into shape.

Thanks for the quote and inspiration.

Oh don't challenge me on the exercise thing - I hadn't planned to put it on my project chart! Ugggh - not my favorite thing to do. Maybe I'll add it as a habit next week or next month :)

Thank you for the quotes, they got the wheels turning in my head. :) Good luck focusing on exercising this week. Since I've been exercising more I've found it easier to get other things done that I need to. I hope that works out that way for you. Good luck!

Thanks for the encouragement!

I'm new to SMS, but have been working on habits on my own for a while now. Glad to stumble across a like-minded group of people on the internet :-)
