How?
How do you start when the mess is so great that you can't face it? This is how Stranger and I have been feeling about our basement and garage this last year.
Last spring before our gutters were on and before the yard was graded all the rain water and mud ran into our basement. Not only that but it was full of trash that the builders left us to clean up. Aren't they so thoughtful? I have a feeling that they don't have any better manners in their own homes so I'll forgive them.
Stranger and Victor have recently spent several days cleaning out the mess and it is now clean, clean, clean! Do you have any idea how excited I am that we can now move all the junk from the garage down there? I'll tell you. I'm excited!
(Don't even talk to me about just getting rid of all the junk. That's a whole different project!)
But first of all we got started with the guest room slash junk room. (Is it sad when you have containers for containers? What else am I going to do with all those lids I never use?)
Victor carried all the heavy boxes down stairs and I got to do my organizing thing. Have I told you lately how nice it is to have a big strong nine year old around the house? It's nice.
What do you do with a clean room after you've vacuumed up all the spiders?
Fill it up again of course.
Now instead of a junk room we have the beginnings of a play room for the girls. It's a little roomier than their walk-in closet that I have yet to finish.
But that's my point anyway. We just keep working on things a little bit at a time and hopefully our house will be finished before it's time to redo all of it again.
How are your organizing projects going this week?

Your projects sound a lot like ours ~ you just keep moving on from one thing to the next! I love Victor's expression in that photo - too funny!
I am hoping that sometime soon in my life I can actually finish some projects. I am really wishing that I could have 3 days completely by myself!
Hi!
We have the same "playhouse" as on your first picture.
I'm organising schoolstuff at the moment.
Just one little theme, otherwise it'll never end before I'm 80.
Want to enter my give-away to sweeten the month a little bit?
I thought I had all our school stuff organized for this year until we got another shipment of nine boxes full of books. Here we go again. . .
I sure do love your house! The doors especially - gorgeous!
I gave up internet scrabble today, so here's hoping a get a wee bit more organizing done. Pretty sad that my organizing blog only has three posts so far!

This is the code we live by :)
Good job!!
Ruth :)
Sucked up all the spiders? YUCK! I'm doing a little willies dance right now.
I love your container for the containers! We always have a bunch of those lids and can't figure out where the boxes are that go with them. We are doing some major purging at our house this weekend. I can't wait!
You've inspired me.
I made a whole month's worth of menu a couple of days ago. Today I will tackle my guest room and turn it back into a library!
I'm with Rosie -- I need a few kid-free days before I want to tackle anything halfway that ambitious! Good for you!
I got through my kids' art supplies and hope to move on to my closet soon (as in sometime this millenium???)
:)
At the beginning of the summer I decluttered 10 boxes of junk from my basment. Then 2 weeks ago I cleaned out a closet. Guess where all the junk went. Yep. To the basement. Now I'm back to square one. I don't even want to talk about the garage. That's hubby's domain and a scary scary place!
I always enjoy reading your posts! Too Funny!! I'm new to the blogging world, but so glad I've been introduced to your site. Keep up the good writings, looking forward to the happenings in your house!
Things do work in progress. I hope I can also do some of those projects one step at a time. Even if it's slow, there is a future if we keep on doing it.
I also do the same thing like everyone is doing, which is taking it slowly and piece by piece. It one way of avoiding being overwhelmed.
