A Mother Knows
For some reason a mother knows instinctually that teaching a toddler to pee in the lake will somehow turn out badly.
These thoughts are confirmed a week later as the toddler , while standing in a puddle of pee in the office, declares, "I tinkle in the lake Mommy!"

ah yes... boys and peeing... classic.
Maybe it's a boy thing. My girls both caught onto potty training on weekends at the lake!! The most recent was just last weekend -- woo-hoo!!
It was funny though... no matter where we were -- either on the beach or in deep water -- she'd head off to where she was only about ankle deep and then stand with her legs as wide apart as she could, and pee! Hey, she hasn't had an accident since we got home (which is a week ago today) so something about that experience was inspirational! I'm not going to complain!!
She's further along in the potty training arena than my son :) !!
My son has no interest whatsoever in the potty. He turned 3 a month ago. I just hope he's out of diapers by the time he moves out.
When my 14 year old was 2 we went to my husbands Mission President's home. It was a very, very beautiful home. I turn around and she has gone underneath the
STIENWAY piano and piddled. I was mortified. The only saving grace for the experience was that it was on marble tile and I was able to get tp from the bathroom to clean it up. Noone else ever knew it happened!
One day, while I was living in Oregon, we were having a party and someone came downstairs and told us that the boys had peed.
My son and another boy had picked the corner of the closet to tinkle in. The other mom was mortified and I was aghast.
Why? He was old enough to know better!
I understand your pain!
Ohoh....we just got back from the lake and we are in the process of potty training our 2-year-old who told me she had to go potty several times while we were in the lake and i told her to just go in the lake, hope it doesn't all backfire on me.
Oh, potty training, how I loathe thee!!! :) That is kinda cute though...sorry! We are about to enter the fun world of potty training here pretty soon...with a boy and I have no idea how it will be. I've always heard boys are harder than girls to potty train. My daughter was relatively easy to train so we shall see! Wish me luck...I do for you!!! Who knows...I may have a story like this to tell soon! God bless!!!
Well, at least she didn't receive inspiration from the "Fair Factor's" swimming pool of poo! It could've been worse right?
Too funny! Just the other day my husband was telling my potty-trained 4 year old to pee in the lake, but she refused to do it...and she refused to go in the porta potty too! Fortunately she waited until we got home to pee.
:-) enjoy your golden moments with toddlers! Soon they will be teenagers and we will miss them all.

Potty training toddler is not the easiest thing.
