Where’s a Hungry Chicken When you Need One?
You know how Victor likes to take photos?“Look how cute Mom. A Mommy grasshopper with its baby riding on its back!”
"Um ya. That's what it is. A baby riding on her back."

While I was lying in bed last night feeling the cool breeze and trying to drift off to sleep, I was reminded of how excited I am that the neighboring mink farm is moving out of state. Eau de Sewer Smelling Mink does not sweet dreams bring. We have a view of the distant mink sheds outside our living room window. I'm thinking high rises would be a better smelling alternative.

Lol at your son's innocent observation!
And blech at the mink farm. I am, however, jealous that you have breezy evenings. Sigh.
You know, you should really warn people before you display such a *dirty* photo. :P Don't you just love the innocence of children? In a few years that photo could have led to a whole other discussion! Glad your stinky neighbors are leaving town!
Here's a question. I've seen news reports about communities trying to get the local hog farm or manure plant or mink farm closed down because of the smell even though it was there first. (Please know that I'm not being sarcastic or disrespectful at all, rather I've always wondered this) Anyway the question is, why did you decide to purchase a home in an area where you knew this farm existed? I mean if I were you I'd totally think it was a bonus it was closing down. But still does that make sense? Thanks!
Maybe she bought it in the winter when you don't smell that stuff as much..lol
Or maybe it was a really bad hint to her husband that she wanted a mink coat!
That is a gorgeous photo! Almost doesn't look real... Your son is a great photographer!
My 4 year old likes to look for ladybugs giving each other 'piggy back rides'.
Angela,
You have a valid question which I have often wondered about myself. As soon as anyone finds out my husband is a train engineer they start complaining to him about trains honking their horns all day and night. I just want to say, "Hello! You bought a house next to a railroad crossing! Who do you think was there first???”
Yes, we knew the mink were here when we bought our property but they are a bit of a ways away as you can see by the photo and we really don’t smell them all that often. We’ve either been building or living here for the last 2 ½ years and we’ve only smelled them a dozen times. However when they smell, they SMELL! We weren’t planning on suing anyone but it’s true that we were excited when we found out they were selling and moving out of state!
I'm taking applications for future neighbors if anyone is interested in living next door to the Lazy Organizer. I'm sure the current owners of the land will strongly consider my feelings on this matter.
wow! this grasshopper picture was taken by your son?
My 7 years old son likes to catch baby green grasshopper but he doesn't dare to catch that brown one. "It bites!" He said.
My hubby and I just saw the same grasshopper "scene" on one of our tomato plants. HIS observation was "I didn't know the males were smaller than the females. You can tell it's a male by the smile on his face."
Great photography skills!
