Talk About Tuesday

Talk About TuesdayWelcome to Talk About Tuesday! If you are new you may want to check out the Guidelines before posting. Thanks for joining us!

Cutting Out The Pattern

I have to make a confession. I'm enjoying this carnival a lot more than I thought I would. It is practically forcing me to work on projects when otherwise I would just lay on the couch being sick. Does it make me a bad mother if I say I was more motivated to finish my daughter's Halloween costume for TAT than for Halloween? Ok then, I won't say it.

Princess Costume
There were a few days where I couldn't do a thing on it because I was too sick but I did a little bit at a time and it is almost finished. I need to hem it and we are going to "sparkle it up" as my daughter tells me.

Princess Costume

I think the highlight of the whole experience was when Persistence was trying it on so I could mark the hem and she neglected to tell me that her foot was bleeding. Yes, she bled all down the white front of the dress. Doesn't that sound fun? Luckily I was able to get it all out with a little scrubbing.

Princess Costume
And by the way, why didn't someone warn me that she was going to need a poofy petticoat to wear under this dress? I had to make another trip to the fabric store for netting but you could still save me from sewing it if you have one you could drop off. I would really appreciate it!

Princess Costume
I almost forgot to tell you that when I was done with everything I cleaned up my mess, folded the fabric into a baggie and added the pattern and a notecard detailing the date, the size I used and the changes I made to the pattern. Not because I'll ever use the patter or the fabric again but just because it was organized and fun!!!

What do you have to talk about this week?

Wow, you've done a really nice job! I've seen that pattern before, and always thought it was really cute. Never seen it made up into a dress before though, kudos!

That turned out BEAUTIFUL! I am finally in the stage of my pregnancy where I can get off the couch a little more. (and I'm not puking - as much) YAY! It's actually the best part of pregnancy since I'm still not too big, yet I've got a little more energy, etc.

Of course if you notice I'm not taking part in your talk about it Tuesday. I guess I could talk about how I finally saw the end of my laundry basket, but well, that's not too exciting for everyone. :-)

Take care & enjoy the good parts of being pregnant. Sometimes you have to look a little to find them, but hey you get a cute kid in the end!!

Wow, that is gorgeous. What a lovely dress, I'm sure your daughter will treasure.

With the motivation being TAT, I say, whatever works!! :) At least it's getting done.

My OCD is about to crack my computer screen if I don't say anything...just thought I would let you know that you labeled the post a SHS instead of a TAT :-D Just sayin, I would hate for anyone to miss this awesome post if they looked under TAT!

The dress turned out lovely! The shade of purple is great too. She's definitely gotta feel princessy in that.

I have a tip I learned as a quilter. Saliva gets out blood. But.... It has to be your saliva on your blood. Something about the DNA factor. But it works!

Hugs,

What a fun costume, great job, Lara! I started making Shakespeare dresses for my girls last May for the school's festival, then gave up and borrowed. Now they don't attend school and I thought I'd never finish them, but I think now they'd make fun dress ups for them, and I probably ought to finish them.
Here's a link to my blog where I posted about winning the organizing bags and what I've put in them.

That is a really nice costume. I have used my sewing maching about 3 times since my twins were born 4 years ago. I keep thinking I want to use it to make some clothes for them but never seem to do it. Oh well! Your costume really looks wonderful!
