Organize Your Food Storage

More organizing curtesy of our piano teacher Jane. This is a storage shelf she has in her basement bathroom. Keep in mind that I didn't ask her in advance if I could take photos. Everything in her home is perfectly organized at all times.

She told me that she grew up with six siblings and a Mother who was very unorganized. She said she always craved having a clean and organized home. Her and one other sister grew up to be very organized but the other two sisters have remained unorganized like their mother.

I wonder if they would have turned out differently had the Mother been organized. Do you think they just are what they are or are they a product of their environment, two of them rebeling against the system they grew up with and two of them adopting it for themselves?

Join me every day this month for GeMoOrgNo - Get More Organized Now! I started an official group at NaBloPoMo. If you would like to join you may go there and request an invitation.

I think some people are just born organized. It is not my gift and yet my oldest (11) has always like to organize things since she was a toddler. I have often wished I had that gene so my house would be more "put together"....My other two kids are more like me (wanna be's but have no clue how to be). :)

I can't see the photo but I want to tell you something about the way you are raised and the way you end up as an adult.

My entire family on my mother's side is extremely disorganized. A better way to phrase it is "pack rats". To the extreme. I can't tell you the number of times I got in trouble for trying to toss something into the garbage or recycling... lol

As an adult, I am an organizing wanna-be. I have alot of ideas and I am pretty organized in some aspects of my home and not in others.

But the biggest motivation for me to become organized is to just think about my mom's house, where I grew up and it puts me in a cleaning frenzy.

So to answer your question: yes, one can be a product of their raising but sometimes the way you are raised urges you to be the opposite.

You're inspiring me to do all sorts of things to my kitchen, bathroom, etc. etc. Now I just need to get feeling better so I can actually do some of them...
