Organizing the Fridge
Technically this photo isn't organized but it's a photo of organizing so it counts right?The kids cleaned out the fridge yesterday. It's Persistence's job to decide what to throw out, do the organizing, and wipe down the shelves. Victor empties everything into the chicken bucket and rinses all the dishes. Basically he does the gross part as he should since he's the man.
I sat down in the kitchen to supervise but looking at all the gross food was making me sick so I had to move to the next room which wasn't far enough away for me to avoid hearing the kids' comments on the gross food. I'm just glad that job is done for now!
Did you know chickens will eat anything? Fridge Cleanout Day is a good time for them. You should get at least one chicken and you will never have a stinky garbage again. It's an extra bonus that they recycle all that food into breakfast and fertilizer for your garden.

I just read your whole front page...and let out a contented sigh. I feel better now.
Even banana peels? - those are the worst contributors to our stinky garbage.
We always had a dog growing up, so everytime I dropped food (or didn't want to eat something at dinnertime...) I'd call for Minnie (our dog) to come eat it. My first impulse still is to call out "Minnie!" whenever I drop food on the floor. Although we don't have a dog, I DO have a 2yo who eats stuff off the floor all the time.
Unlike dogs, chickens actually contribute something from all the scraps they get to eat. I'll have to remember that. Maybe someday...
I'm not a pet person at all. But eventually I'd like to have some chickens. I have fond memories of chickens from growing up and technically it's food storage right? (The eggs!)

I need to clean out & organize my fridge too. I'll be out of state until January & that would some awful rank smells to come home to. Glad you've got the kids to do some of the smelly dirty work, esp now.

I'm just impressed that you got your kids to clean out the fridge. Maybe I should try that.
There's nothing worse than icky fridge smells when you're pregnant. So, it's good that you left the room.
