Talk About Tuesday
Welcome to Talk About Tuesday! If you are new, check out the Guidelines before posting. Thanks for joining us!It's an organized pantry! Stranger spent an entire day finishing up the cupboards on this wall. Putting the drawers together and installing everything was more work than I could have guessed. I guess I'll let him take a break before he finishes the other wall. Aren't I sweet? Actually he's been at work. That's where he goes when he needs to rest. Sometimes I wish I had a job where I could go to rest and take a break from Motherhood.
I designed the pantry with some countertop space so I could make hidden messes on it. Now if I can just keep it cleared off so I have room to make the messes I can't wait to make. It's also a perfect spot for my wheat grinder. The bonus is that I can shut the door and hopefully not wake up the neighborhood livestock because it's loud! I like keeping all of it in a container to catch spills and make it easy to move. I had a friend who kept her wheat grinder in the garage which is another great idea to keep the noise and mess outside. Except when it's -20 degrees. Freshly ground wheat is just not worth freezing your tootsies off.
This is one of the upper cabinets. I'm still trying to decide if I want the doors installed. They will look nice but they will create one more step in putting things away and it's not like people are going to be hanging out in my pantry thinking about how nice it looks, right?
This is the pasta and rice drawer. I love big drawers!
I gathered up all the stray plastic tubs and bottles and threw them in another big drawer.
Persistence was the lucky one who got to organize all of it.
She got rid of at least half of it. She did a great job! BTW, this isn't stuff we use on a daily basis. I use pyrex for leftovers and I keep it in the kitchen.
Did I mention how fun it was to organize all my new cupboards and drawers? Good times.
What do you have to talk about this week?

OMGoodness! That is an AWESOME pantry! It really turned out great. When I first saw your upper cabinet I thought "WOW that looks good! Who needs a door!" ;-) And WOW again at your ubber organized pasta/rice drawer! I think I would cook more if I could be organized like that ... too bad THAT ain't gonna happen ;-)
oh wow great pantry.... we are in the process of planning renovations and I am hoping for a pantry. You've given me some great ideas! thanks!
The pantry looks great! I'm looking forward to just getting a tall standing shelf in my laundry room for more organized storage. I'd say leave the doors off. Like you said, people won't be hanging around in the pantry & if they do the shelves are so organized & look great! Plus having the doors off may create motivation to keep it so tidy.
Everything looks so pretty! I love it!
I have me some real pantry envy!!
I am writhing with jealousy, Lara! I'm about to move into a slightly smaller kitchen and I'm just petrified.
Do you really keep ketchup in the cupboard? I have never heard of that. Mine's in the fridge. :)
I only wish I had that many drawers--what a dream!
I love those drawers! They are huge!! Everything looks great!
Can I come play in your pantry?
A good pantry like this is definitely on my list of wants for my dream house. I love the counter space in there, would also make it really easy to take the bags of groceries right in there to put things away instead of walking back and forth between the pantry and the kitchen or having to bend over to pick things up off the floor.
It looks so nice! I would love to have a big walk in pantry like that.
My vote is to leave the cupboards without out doors. It makes it easier to see things, put things away , etc. But since its not my house that is just an opinion.
GREAT! Job, it looks great!
Looks great, Lara. Can't wait til I get to hit IKEA for my pantry cupboards!
Love the pantry! I'd guess it's bigger than my entire kitchen! It really looks great.
Excuse me while I wipe drool off the keyboard...
Can I just say...BEAUTIFUL!
Your pantry is absolutely enviable!
SO So jealous!! I've got pantry envy! I love the drawers in there- so handy, I never have enough drawers in my kitchen.
