Lovely Reading Time

Thanks for all your comments on my post yesterday. Stranger had one thing to say after reading it. "I feel sorry for all those poor kids of the mothers reading you blog!" But he doesn't really. He knows we're teaching our kids the right things. I just hope your kids don't hate me too much!

I spent some time today labeling all my posts related to teaching kids to work and re-loading the photos that were lost on them. If you're interested you can go back and see some of the progress and changes we have made over the last year or so. There are also a few goofy videos of my kids doing chores.

Click here to see all the posts. I will work on answering your latest questions as soon as I can.

In other news...

After Lovely was all ready for bed last night I asked her to go get in bed and read while I took a shower and then I would come tuck her in.

When I got out of the shower my two older kids were running around playing and this is where I found Lovely. In bed reading!!! I've told you before that she will put herself to bed but it still amazes me.

You know I love all my kids right? I definitely don't have any favorites. Of course not! It's just that this one is so sweet and agreeable that she has spoiled me. I'm scared of what the new baby is going to do to our lives. You can't get this lucky twice.

I promise to not tell my kids who told me to expect more from them if you promise to keep giving great advice. Deal?

Once again - truely inspirational!

I love your style of writing.

I could really relate to you needing to focus on just the cake making too - often I find I give myself too many tasks to complete, that I forget to stop and take in what is happening right now.

Happy Birthday Lovely!

My son turned 2 a couple of weeks ago - such a fun age.

Thanks again for sharing your everyday.

My kids are too young to hate you, but I am with Laura. Keep posting on this topic and I won't tell them where I am reading it.

It's about twenty four hours since I last implemented some stuff from that last post. Most importantly, if mamma is working, so are the kids. I like it. Of course, I am not making them clean the outside of second story windows or anything, but having them alongside of me while we work is nice. In the same way, I have been alongside them when they work (like pick up their toys) so that they learn how to do things right. We might be on to something here...thank you.

I have been so inspired by you blog ! I've long been ( ok, my kids are only 6 and 4 so in the scheme of things, it's not really LONG ...) a believer in kids working. My two both do a fair bit around here. What has inspired me though is that your kids are with you, doing what you are doing, A LOT. A whole lot, it seems. So, yesterday I've started what will become a new routine for us. The kids were with me from the time we got home from school, 'til the time they spend quietly in their rooms before bed. My 6 year old unloaded and re-loaded the dishwasher. My 4 year old and I cleaned the kids bathroom together. They both folded and put away their own laundry. ( I taught them how to fold clothes when they were 4 & 2) They had their baths, and then we cooked dinner together. Daddy was out last night so we had a "family room picnic" with bacon and egg sandwiches. It was an amazingly frustration free process. I think the kids loved it as much as I did and I plan to continue ... SO >>> thanks for the inspiration. I love your blog. I've only been reading it for a short time so I've got some "back reading" to do !!! The fact that you labeled those posts will help. And I've put you in my google reader so I don't miss the new posts !!!
