Smart Habit Saturday

Look where I got to park yesterday at the mall.
How fun is that? Never mind that we walked five miles once we got into the mall. It was important that we didn't wear ourselves out getting to the front door.Lovely's favorite thing to do these days is open and close doors for me. This can take a considerable amount of time. There are a lot of heavy doors out there that I am not allowed to touch so we had better not think we are headed anywhere fast!
Do you know what helps me the most with my habits? Slowing down. Not only does slowing down help you get things done (yes, really!) but it frees up time for all the little things that really make life more fun and enjoyable. This means that you have to stop trying to do it ALL and start doing what is IMPORTANT. Deciding what that is is the tricky part so I'll leave that up to you.
If I sit in the car for a moment until the kids have all their stuff picked up and their garbage thrown away then I get to enjoy a clean van. If I immediately rush into the house, the kids do the same, leaving all their junk behind.
This month I am going to revisit a habit that I failed miserably with last year and that is keeping my office and paperwork organized. I cannot put this off any longer. If this is the last habit I work on this year I will conquer it! I'm going to spend 15 minutes on it every day while we do our jobs in the morning.
Have a SMART week!!!

Brilliantly put...I definitely need to "slow down" in certain respects (and speed up in others!). Thanks for the insight!
I so agree with the slowing down... this last baby has helped me implement that I an I am really enjoying it.
Good luck with the paper work. It can be a tough one.
I thought thye only had those signs at babies r us. cooooolllll
Ahhh! The killer pile of paperwork! My husband has the same problem. I'm just finishing his new office and it's already piled high with all of his paperwork. I'm going to have to get some more filed for his desktop to motivate him to put things away. Good luck!
Here is to another smart week! Thanks Lara for all your inspiration.
Thank you so much for hosting this. I am finally going to fit this into my schedule as I want a different life with s.m.a.r.t. habits instead of mindless, counter-productive ones.
I'm hoping that as my Saturday/Sunday schedule gets tamed, I'll be slowing down too.
Good luck on the paperwork.
Crap! I came to post my link & found out it was a new month. LOL Good thing I read your post before putting up my link.
Good luck w/paperwork..maybe inspire yourself my recycling that paper. I have less problems getting rid of paper because it's recycleable & by recycling it at school, they get $$ for it! :)
Sorry I am late in posting. Good luck with the paper monster!!
Ah, yes. Paperwork. I've got a few things here that could have a better system...we'll save that for another month, though...LOL!
When I was pregnant my sister would want to go to the mall with me just to mooch off of my stork parking privileges. It's nice not having to walk extra esp when the weather isn't comfortable. Have fun organizing your paperwork & staying on top of it! Have a great week!
What a great idea, about not hurrying to get the kids inside the house and instead having them help clean out the car. It seems so obvious, but no, it's not. So thanks for the idea.
