Recycled Notecards
Tell me if you think this is weird. It probably is because I do so many weird things. But I cannot write in a notecard. I always write on a piece of paper and stick it inside the notecard so the person I'm giving it to can use the card again. I think of it like a little present. I'm sending the note and the card is the present that they can use and give to someone else. Thoughtful? Or weird? Now if everyone did this then I would never have to buy or make another card. It would be like the gift bag phonomenon. People give them to you. You give them to other people. No one is actually buying any new gift bags. They are just going around and around. Right? I'm not the only one participating in this wonderful gift bag exchange program am I?
By the way, I don't actually make notecards. That was something I did in my past life and I just happen to have a few left over. That shows you how often I send notes to people. Isn't that what e-mail is for?
I am turning over a new leaf though. I'm going to start sending notes. I don't know why but it seems like the right thing to do. Right after I get my studio organized. Start holding your breath and checking your mailbox.

Well you have my address so I'll definitely be waiting :)
I do think that you are weird but thoughtful! I would love to have someone send me a darling empty card!
I used to actually make really cute cards. That mostly stopped after I made four babies. I just haven't ever gotten back to that point, even though I LOVE darling cards.
In our old ward there was a gal that was so good about writing notes to people. She kept notecards in her church bag and when she noticed someone doing something kind or noticed someone looking sad she would write a little note. She would then just slip it into your bag. It was so sweet. I would love to be sweet. Maybe that should be my SHS habit!!
We missed you today, although there were 10 children--so it isn't ever "relaxing" with that many little ones! I enjoy these little breaks though. I wish that there was a way to have them without the kids!Oh, wait, I am supposed to want to be with the kids---still working on being sweet!
I thought you were going to say that you cut off the front of the card and write a note on the back (not that I do that, ahem). Your way is much more thoughtful.
Can't say that I've ever thought of sending them that way, but I would definitely USE the recycled card.
I almost always do this---especially if I know the person would appreciate a handmade card. I'm a member of the gift bag recycling brigade as well.
I don't think it's wierd and the recipients probably know you well enough to know what they're supposed to do with the blank card. I haven't bought a card of gift bag in a long time, I reuse bags of course and use pretty, blank inside notecards for cards. That way I cab write my own personal message.
How do they get a second envelope to fit the card if they were wanting to mail it? I like the idea, but that did come to mind. It is a very cute card in the picture. I wish I was talented like that, but I'll just go the rest of my life wishing.
I don't send an extra envelope. They are on their own for that! You could just buy a bigger envelope to mail it in if you want to do that. I have some pretty vellum envelopes that are bigger than normal and would work for that.
I got a thank you card like this other day and thought it was great! I quickly put it to use for a present I had to give and since I was sticking it in a gift bag I figured it was fine not to have an envelope!
I think that is great! I would definitely use the card. And I totally do the gift bag thing. I don't remember the last time I bought a gift bag.
My MIL does that sometimes, and I think she is kind of weird. Ha!
I love handmade cards with handwritten messages inside. When I receive something like this in my mailbox, it makes my day (my week, even).
I enjoy making cards, and even belong to a card exchange group. Sending joy through the mail is one way I can put a smile on someone else's face. I don't think an email message has quite the same effect. Good for you for wanting to try sending notes. You will make a lot of people happier.
Well, if you're weird, then so am I. Although that is not saying much..sooo.. forget that statement if you'd like ;)
I am a participant of the bag program as well as the empty card program. My kids always ask me why I never write on the little cards attached to the bag, too. Apparently THEY think it is weird...
That's a really cool idea. And ya know, if people DID make their own cards, they could make them long and thin--the size that fits in a regular envelope (is it a #10?)
Hmmm......now my mind is spinning. ;)
