Anonymous Halloween Treats

Do you get these in your neighborhood? This is a scary Halloween gift-giving tradition! Why would I eat something that a stranger left on my door step? I guess keeping your identity a secret is part of the fun, but please! I always include my name so my neighbors can feel comfortable eating whatever I have left them.

Do Your House Plants Need a Haircut?

My kids were at the In-Laws yesterday and Chris was at work so I was all alone! It sounds exciting but it is really hard to get things done when then house is so quiet and peaceful. It's hard to resist just taking a long bath or watching a movie all afternoon. But, I was determined not to let boredom set in so I got up and made a list of organizing projects I wanted to accomplish. I got all of it done in time to have a nap before the kids got home and we all went to some friend's for dinner. I organized my daughter's toys (the most painful) and clothes (easy) and re-organized my House-Building notebook (I feel so much better).

I also got the plants watered and as I went from plant to plant I took a pair of scissors and a garbage with me, trimming off any dead branches or leaves. I like to keep my trailing plants trimmed so they get fuller instead of "leggy". If you haven't cleaned out your plants lately this is a fast easy project you could add to your list.

I came down with a cold last night so I've been trying to stay in bed all day today. I have found that if I take it easy for a couple days then I get better quickly. If not, it drags on and I'm sick for weeks. Taking care of myself is rewarding for my whole family. The kids don't mind either. They are so cute about bringing me drinks and snacks and they don't mind being allowed to watch videos all day either!

In spite of being sick, my bathroom drawer is "getting" it tomorrow. It's been driving me crazy for too long!

Scrub Your Tub

Hey, it's the Lazy Organizer again! I really have been organizing but I haven't made the time to write lately. I was out of town for a few days. Tuesday, my first day back, I spent my 15 minutes cleaning out the refridgerator. You don't have to make a big production of this. I threw out the old food, pushed the remaining food to either side and wiped down the shelves. Now it's ready for new groceries. Hopefully I'll get my shopping done today. Oh how I hate shopping! I'll trade someone a pizza dinner if they'll do my grocery shopping for me!

Wednesday I spent my time cleaning my bedroom. I used a broom to get everything out from under the bed. How do all those toys get shoved under there? Then I moved the night stands to vacuum under them and I dusted everything.

Here's my tip for the day: I keep a small whisk broom on a rope hung over the handle of my upright vacuum. I don't have a hose attachment so I use the broom to get all the dirt out of the corners as I go around the room.

Thursday I scrubbed my bathtub. This is a perfect time to grab any dirty plastic garbage cans you have and scrub them out too.

More Dishwashing

Speaking of dish washing. We bought a new dishwasher yesterday! The timer on our old washer broke. Instead of putting any more money into it we decided to buy a new washer for whoever buys our house. We bought a washer on sale for $300. It is definitely an upgrade from the contractor's cheapy that we've been using.

I forgot to mention one thing in my dishwashing blog. When I took out the sprayer to put in a soap dispenser, I added a sprayer attachment to the sink faucet. Its just a little thing you screw on that swivels to spray your dishes or sink off. I bought it at Home Depot for less than 10$. It is so much more convenient than pulling out a long hose and stuffing it back in. I NEVER used the hose.

About the home building project. I have been waiting several days to get some kind of document from our title company proving that we have a deeded right of way to our property. The only way to get to it is by a private road. We have to prove we have legal access on that road in order to get a construction and land loan. Now I know why people build homes in subdivisions. Buying farm land out in the country and building a home on it is a GREAT BIG PAIN! Actually, we're not out in the country, we're up in the mountains. This is something my husband is feeling a bit regretful of. Right now we have a beautiful view of the mountains from three sides of our home. Up there the only view we have is of some rolling hills. I personally can live without the mountains.
