The Cooking Journal

I have inherited my Mother’s style of cooking. I rarely follow a recipe. I usually start out with a recipe and have good intensions of following it but I almost always get sidetracked. I end up throwing in some of this or that and leaving the other out entirely. It’s almost impossible for me to remember how to make the same dish twice. I gave up trying (to remember) and I’ve started writing everything down in a journal. It only takes a few moments and if I come up with a prize winner, I know I can make it exactly the same next time.

Easy Care Clothing

I have been on a shopping spree trying to get everyone in the family new clothes to wear. I hate it! I hate to shop. I would rather do dishes than go shopping. I have been doing a lot of shopping on E-Bay but even that is a pain because it takes so much time finding and watching the auctions I want. I have found some great deals though and I didn’t have to leave the house so it was worth it.

I have a new philosophy about clothes these days. I no longer care for cute. All that matters is that the item is easy to care for and doesn’t show stains. Half of Baby Loves’ clothes are denim. All of Kate’s pants are denim jeans and I’m going to start looking for denim tops for her as well. I just don’t have the energy to spend my life scrubbing and worrying about keeping clothes clean.

Anything I have to iron is definitely out. Church clothes are the only clothes I will iron but that’s only once a week so I can handle it. I really don’t mind ironing, I just don’t have the time for it with the BILLION other things I have to do every day.

If I find the cutest, cheapest deal in the universe, it’s not coming home with me if it doesn’t fit my new criteria: knit or stretch fabric, machine washable and dark colors. Denim is best. That’s all I have to say about that.
